Ixe-13IXE-13 (1997)

IXE-13 is a unique phenomenon in Quebec cinematography. This very rare "musical", inspired by Pierre Saurel's famous eponymous serial, is the work of Jacques Godbout (libretto and production) and François Dompierre (music). The French Canadian Dream was part of 1950s popular culture, when thousands of readers would avidly await each new adventure of a hero who appealed, for different reasons, to mothers and to young men and women alike. Theatrical and operatic,

IXE-13 is also exciting and fanciful. This film is made to be listened to, bringing it within the realm of  "Cinema for the Ear". Twenty-five years after it was first released, the Phonothèque québécoise, together with the Cinémathèque québécoise and Les Productions François Dompierre Inc., wanted to revive this                    monument to healthy irreverance by resuscitating the phonographic trace of the film score in a new version without images.
