Phonothèque québécoise
A Sound Archive
Preserving, documenting and sharing our sound heritage
Tips for constructing successful database queries:
Enter one term per field or two terms sequentially (if you already know the title):
- Name: author, name of the group or ensemble, composer or performer; enter last
name, or last name followed by first name
Ex. : Lennon or Lennon, John
not John Lennon
- Title: Enter the title as it appears in your
information source, in the original language; try in French or in English
- Subject: Follow standard library classification categories; you may
also enter subjects by musical genres and styles
- Label: Name of the record company
Understanding the search results:
- Accession number: The Phonothèque staff assigns a number in standard
archival format (acquisition year / collection number / item number)
- Date: For records, the date indicates the release date or the most recent date given in the information source.
